Obituary of Evelyn L. Bays

Evelyn Lassiter Bays, 86, of Main St., Gatesville, NC died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bays was born on September 4, 1916 in Gates County. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Irene Lassiter and was the widow of Retired Army Master Sergeant Delbert H. Bays. Her only sister, Willie Marie Cummings preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Tankovich and husband, Jim, of Herndon, VA. and Lillian Taylor and husband, Richard of Suffolk, VA, two granddaughters, Catherine and Elizabeth Tankovich. Also, she is survived by a niece Sharron Cummings Hill and a nephew, Harvey F. Cummings, II. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, February 1, 2003,at 11:00am in the Eure Christian Church Cemetery by Rev. Wayne Gardner. Viewing will be in the Miller Funeral Home, Main St., Gatesville on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003. The family will receive friends and relatives at her residence, 217 Main Street, Gatesville.
