Obituary of Peggy Sewell Payne

Elizabeth City, NC Peggy Sewell Payne, age 75, of 100 E. Burgess St. Elizabeth City, NC, died February 12, 2003, in Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Hyde County daughter of the late Claude Burns Sewell and Cora Adams Sewell Mayo, and was the wife of George Speilman Payne of the residence. She worked as a secretary for City Sheet Metal, and was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, and a member of the Joy Club. Mrs. Payne is survived by two sons, Donald W. Payne of Wilmington, DE and Larry P. Payne of Elizabeth City, NC; one sister, Mabel Cox, of Swan Quarter, NC; two brothers, Keith Sewell of Bakersfield CA, and Samuel Sewell of Elizabeth City, NC; one grandchild and two great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Friday, February 14, 2003, at 11:00 AM in Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Leigh Gillis officiating. The family will be at the residence on 100 E. Burgess St. Elizabeth City, NC. Memorial donations may be made to Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, 700 N. Road St. Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
