Obituary of Leah C. Lurz

Leah Burger Lurz Davis, WV native Leah Cornelia Burger Lurz, age 81, of 901 Agawam Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. Lurz, a native of Davis, WV, was the widow of Vincent DePaul Emmel and the daughter of the late Guy Edwin Burger, Sr., and Nina Mae Walizer Burger. She was a retired supervisor for City Corps and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Mrs. Lurz is survived by two daughters, Sharon, and husband Donald Hunt and Nancy C., and husband Lee Sauer both of Elizabeth City, NC; one sister, Grace Elizabeth Matzen of Elizabeth City, NC, five brothers, Guy E. Burger, Jr., of Weirton, WV, William Burger of Chicago, IL, Clayton Burger, Robert Burger, and Kermit Burger, all of Baltimore, MD; and three grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Buchholz officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 1453 North Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC, 27909 or one’s favorite charity. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, is in charge of arrangements.
