Obituary of Thomas W. Owens

Elizabeth City, NC Thomas W. Owens, 76, of 211 Small Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Albemarle Hospital. He was born in Shiloh, NC to the late Walter and Rovena Holmes Owens and was the husband of Anne Barnes Owens of the residence. He was a retired Chief Boatswain Mate with the United States Coast Guard, was a veteran of the United States Navy having served on the U. S. S. Hornet during World War II, and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Besides his wife, Mr. Owens is survived by four daughters, Nancy Owens Carlson and husband John of Elizabeth City, NC, Debbie Owens of Ivor, VA, Susan Owens Cooper and husband Jay of Elizabeth City, NC, and Kathy Owens Hepler and husband Tom of Aurora, CO; two brothers, George W. Owens of Shirley, MA and James E. Owens of Gun Barrel City, TX; twelve grandchildren and three great grandsons. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. James Harrington. The family will be at the residence.
