Obituary of Carrie Brothers

Carrie B. Morgan Brothers Pasquotank County Native Carrie B. Morgan Brothers, age 82, of 117 Gregory Lane, Hertford, NC, and formerly of Northside Road, Elizabeth City, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. Brothers, a native of Pasquotank County, was the widow of Elbert Lee Brothers and the daughter of the late John Shelton Morgan and Sophia Pritchard Morgan. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Brothers is survived by two daughters, Kaye Hurdle, and husband Jack, and Susan Pierce, and husband James, all of Hertford, NC; a sister, Gussie Layden of Elizabeth City, NC; four grandchildren, Michael Hurdle, Mark Hurdle, Michelle Winslow, and Kendall Pierce, all of Hertford, NC; and five great grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be Thursday, August 14, 2003, at 11:00 AM at Highland Park Cemetery with the Rev. William Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence of the granddaughter, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Winslow, 222 Ainsley Road, Hertford, NC. Memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1822 North Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, is in charge of arrangements.
