Obituary of William “Billy” Davenport
NAGS HEAD, NC
WILLIAM ‘BILLY’ HARPER DAVENPORT, SR., 59, of Nags Head, NC, died Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at his residence. Mr. Davenport, born in Plymouth, NC was owner and operator of Davenport Drywall and also worked at the Outer Banks Fishing Pier and was a member of the Soundside Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, NC. He was the son of the late Emory and Vergie Boggs Harper and adoptive parents, the late Percy and Lillie Davenport.
Mr. Davenport is survived by his wife, Annie ‘Louise’ Cole Davenport of the residence; two daughters, Lisa Kimnach of Virginia Beach, VA and Sheryl Eustis of Holly Spring, NC; four sons, William H. Davenport, Jr. of Jarvisburg, NC, Donnie Davenport of Harbinger, NC, Ernest M. Swain, Jr. of Colington, NC and Chris Scott Swain of Nags Head, NC; seven sisters, Thelva Walton of Sonoma, CA, Violet Walls of Alum Creek, WV, Elaine Gray of Plymouth, NC, Thelma Hassell of Columbia, NC, Wilma Spencer of Columbia, NC, Clara Mae Rhodes of Columbia, NC and Beverly Harper of Eugene, OR; three brothers, Exil Harper of Orville, CA, Frankie Harper of Eugene, OR and Dallas Davenport of Creswell, NC; and ten grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Soundside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbia, NC on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dorris Walls officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo, on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
