Obituary of James L. Jackson

James L. Jackson Resident of Elizabeth City, NC James L. Jackson, age 88, of 112 South Ashe Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, August 16, 2003 in Elizabeth City, NC. He was born in Pasquotank County; son of the late Lory Wood and Elizabeth Louise Ives Jackson and was the husband of Mardell Swain Jackson of the residence. He was a member of The First Baptist Church, where he served as a past deacon and Sunday School teacher, a past president of the Elizabeth City Lion’s Club, and was a member of Pasquotank Tribe #8 Improved Order of Red Men. Besides his wife, Mr. Jackson is survived by a daughter, Aleene Jackson Davis of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, James L. Jackson, Jr. and wife Lois of Elizabeth City, NC; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Ashley Davis of Greenville, NC and Lesley Wood Davis of Elizabeth City, NC. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Elizabeth Jackson. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 18, 2003 at 4:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Lamar Eiland officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will be at the residence at other times.
