Obituary of Jack W. Best

Jack Wallace Best, Age 79, of 538 Meadstown Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003, in Albemarle Hospital. He was born in Dothan, AL, son of the late William Wallace and Clara Knight Best, and was the husband of Myrtle Meads Best of the residence. He was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Navy in Germany and Africa during WWII. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Curtis of Sea Grove, NC; one son, Jake A. Best of Cedar Rapids, IA; one brother, Hopson Best, of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29 at 2:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City,NC with Military Honors by the William Clarence Jackson Post # 6060 of V. F. W. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends the at funeral home Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, in the lobby of the funeral home immediately following the service, and at other times at the residence.
