Obituary of Oscar Leon Powell

OSCAR LEON POWELL 85 of 153 A Cowell Road Shawboro NC died Tuesday morning in Ahoskie NC. He was a native of Virginia son of the late James O. and Mrs. Bettie Sawyer Powell and the widower of Tillie Cowell Powell. Mr. Powell was a retired farmer, a member of the Pilmoor United Methodist Church the NC Pork Producers Association and Co Founder of Powells Markets. Mr. Powell is survived by one daughter Susan Earley and husband Bill of Ahoskie NC, one son William Powell and wife Eddie Jo of Shawboro NC and one grandson Paxtin Powell. He was preceded in death by a daughter Marsha Powell. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in Twifords Memorial Chapel 405 East Church St. by Rev. C H Wellons and Rev. Scott Wilson Parsons. Burial will follow in the Cowell Family Cemetery, Shawboro NC. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 o’clock and all other times at the residence of his son and daughter in law 136 Powell Road, Shawboro NC.
