Just heard through the grapevine of Marney’s death 10 years ago. He and I served in The AP Nashville Bureau in the early 1960s. He was an aggressive reporter and good writer, careful with the facts. He tried to lure me to help him with the Network Election Service in the Southeast in the late 60s, but I stayed with AP another year or two, then took an administrative job with the University of Tennessee. I’ve thought of Marney ften.
