Obituary of Jesse Gordon

Kill Devil Hills, NC Jesse T. Gordon, 75, died Thursday, September 25, 2003 at a Nags Head medical facility. Mr. Gordon was born in Petersburg, Va. and was a salesman for Heileg Myers Furniture Company. He was a lifelong resident of Colonial Heights, Va. and was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church in Disputanta, Va., the American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights and the VFW Post 622 in Petersburg, Va. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Gordon was the son of the late Jesse T. Gordon, Sr. and the late Nannie Wilkins Gordon and was the husband of Mildred Wells Gordon of the home. Besides his wife, Mr. Gordon is survived by one daughter, Wanda G. Davis and husband Jimmy of Disputanta, Va.; one son, Jerry D. Herke and wife Sharon of Millsap, TX; four grandchildren, Jay Davis and wife Erin, Mark, Daniel and Brian Herke; four great-grandchildren, Anna and Clay Davis and Trenton and Joshua Herke; a devoted cousin, Jacqueline S. Hudson of Colonial Heights. Mr.Gordon was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred L. Gordon. A memorial service will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 7:00 PM with Rev. Bob Pitsch officiating. There will also be a memorial service at Oakland Baptist Church on Monday, September 29, 2003 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Robert Livesay officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund, 12601 Prince George Drive, Disputanta, Va., 23842.
