Obituary of Thelma James

Thelma Luton Sanders James Native of Pasquotank County Thelma Luton Sanders James, age 86, of 1301 Salem Church Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at her residence. Mrs. James was a native of Pasquotank County and the widow of Thomas F. Sanders and Vernon G. James. She was the daughter of the late John Herbert Luton and Gladys Keaton Luton. She was a retired cashier from College of the Albemarle and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved life. She loved her family, friends, and her home. She will be missed so very much. Mrs. James is survived by a daughter, Joyce S. Beutler of Mapleton, UT; a son, Alan Sanders of Clarmont, NC; three sisters, Martha Luton Lingard of Salt Lake City, UT, Ann Barrow of Dunn, NC, and Mattie Marie Meads of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers, Relfe K. Luton and Earl A. Luton both of Elizabeth City, NC; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great grand- children. Funeral services will be Friday, October 10, 2003, at 11:00 AM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with Bishop David Pritchard officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 at the funeral home, immediately after the service in the lobby of the funeral home, and at other times at the residence.
