Obituary of Barbara Simmons

Barbara J. Simmons Retired Hostess Roses Restaurant Barbara J. Simmons, age 73, of 113 Mockingbird Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, October 16, 2003, at the Albemarle Hospital. Mrs. Simmons, a native of Gaston County, NC, was the daughter of the late Joseph Edison Beane and Mamie Ashe Beane, and the wife of Roy V. Simmons of the residence. She was a retired hostess from Roses Restaurant. Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth A. Shaner and husband Melvin, of Shawboro, NC; a son, Jeffrey H. Ermer of Crofton, MD; a sister, Alice Brown of Belmont, NC; and three grandchildren, Regina Ermer, Travis Shaner, and Kelli Shaner. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister. A funeral service will be Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC with the Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of Melvin & Elizabeth Shaner, 1270 Shawboro Road, Shawboro, NC, and immediately after the service in the funeral home lobby.
