Obituary of Vera Baker

Vera Swain Baker Native of Tyrrell County, NC Vera Swain Baker, age 79, of 111 Cartwright Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Columbia, NC, daughter of the late Charles L. Swain and Dora Voliva Swain and was wife of Wesley Thomas Baker of the residence. She was a member of Sandy Acres Freewill Baptist Church in Columbia, NC. Besides her husband, Mrs. Baker is survived by a son, Michael C. Baker and wife Georgia of Elizabeth City, NC; two sisters, Esther Rhodes of Columbia, NC, and Katie Reynolds of Jamesville, NC; and two grandsons, Steven and Johnathan Baker. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by three brothers, Grady, Joseph, and David Swain. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 31, 2003 at 11:00 AM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Phil Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30, and immediately following the service in the lobby of the funeral home, and at other times at the residence of Michael and Georgia Baker, 1270 Northside Road, Elizabeth City, NC.
