Obituary of Virginia Jones

Virginia Garrett Jones Native of Perquimans County, NC Virginia Garrett Jones, age 87, of Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Guardian Care Nursing Home. She was born in Perquimans County, NC, daughter of the late William Henry and Nettie Umphlett Garrett and was the widow of William Earl Jones, Sr.. She was a member of First Christian Church and retired from the Elizabeth City Hosiery Mill. Mrs. Jones is survived by three daughters, Gail LaCroix and Annette Reel both of Elizabeth City, NC, and Brenda Williams of Kenly, NC; two sons, William Earl Jones, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, and John Paul Jones of Alexanderia , VA; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2003 at 11:00 am in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Burton officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. Following the service the family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. James Reel, 506 Planters Run, Elizabeth City, NC.
