Obituary of Alberta L. Owens

Alberta L. Owens, age 83 of 144 N. Spot Rd., Powells Point, NC died Wednesday, December 25, 2002 at Chesapeake General Hospital. She was born in Ridgely, MD; daughter of the late James Albert and Katie Tressa Tarbutton Lowman and was the widow of Roland Day Owens. She was a member of the Rodanthe Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Owens is survived by four daughters, Shirley Parker of Chesapeake, VA, Ella Sasnett and Ruth Thomas, both of Powells Point, NC and Jane Koontz of Grandy, NC; a brother, Thomas Alvin Lowman of Smyrna, DE, nine grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Nathan Porter, Jr. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, December 29, 2002 at 2:00 PM in the Powells Point Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC on Saturday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence of her daughter, Ella Sasnett, 1053 Bayview Rd., Powells Point, NC.
