Obituary of Ruby Blanchard

Native of Beaufort Co., NC Ruby Carawan Blanchard, age 82, of the 4000 block of Caratoke Highway, Barco, NC, died at her residence on Wednesday, December 31, 2003. She was born in Belhaven, NC, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Annie Tripp Carawan. She was the widow of Lewis Beacher Blanchard, Sr. She had worked in sales at Blair Co., and in sewing at Supak Mfg. Co., and was a member of Coinjock Baptist church. Mrs. Blanchard is survived by: three daughters, Patricia Ann Wendling of Eagle Rock, VA, Anita Williams of Virginia Beach, VA, and Carolyn Litchfield of Bowie, MD; four sons, James Richard Blanchard, of Virginia Beach, VA, Wayne Henry Blanchard of Shawboro, NC, Thomas David Blanchard of Harbinger, NC, and Charles Edwin Blanchard of Cary, NC; three brothers, Gene Carawan of Asheville, NC, Grover Carawan of Tampa, FL, and Ellis Carawan of Fairfax, VA; twenty one grandchildren, and thirty three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son Lewis B. Blanchard, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 3, 2004, at 1:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Wellons and Rev. Ed Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel Friday evening, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, and other times at the residence, 4117 Caratoke Highway, Barco, NC.
