Obituary of Dan “Pete” Watkins

Dan ‘Pete’ Watkins Retired School Teacher Dan Calvin ‘Pete’ Watkins, age 60, of 3140 Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Watkins, a native of Bishopville, SC, was the husband of Wilhelmina ‘Mina’ Moffett Watkins of the residence and the son of the late Melvin Delesie Watkins and Teresa Mae Gardner Watkins. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, a retired school teacher from the Currituck County School System, and a member of the ECSU Alumni. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Dan Christian, and wife Sherri, Watkins of Elizabeth City, NC, and Bradley Allen Watkins of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Melvin Donald Watkins of Elizabeth City, NC; and two grand children, Jordan Watkins and Tim Watkins. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Weatherington. A funeral service will be Saturday, January 10, 2004, at 11:00 AM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, with the Rev. Reggie Parker officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
