Obituary of John Burton

John R. Burton, 89, of 5841 Old Kendrick Road, Helena, Alabama and a former resident of the Newland section of Pasquotank County, NC, died at his residence Friday, January 16, 2004. He was born in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada to the late John R. and Elizabeth Burton. He was the widower of the late Estelle Spence Burton. Mr. Burton was retired from Eastern Airlines as a director of system control after 33 years of service and was a member of the Newland United Methodist Church. He is survived by one son, Jack Spence Burton of Dawsonville, GA.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at 11:00am in the Newland United Methodist Church by Rev. Toni Wood. Burial will be in the Koen Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives immediately following the service in the church’s social hall. There will be a visitation for family and friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:30pm at Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC.
