Obituary of Barton Brown

BROWN MANTEO, N.C. BARTON RILEY BROWN, 58, of Manteo, died, Sunday, January 18, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Brown was born in Los Angeles, California and was a retired state traffic officer with the California Highway Patrol. Mr. Brown was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary where he taught classes and he worked part time with Manteo Marine. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard and loved fishing and the ocean and held and interest in aviation. Mr. Brown was the son of Mary Adams Brown of Oceanside, Ca and the late James Harlan Brown and the husband of Patricia Trautman Brown. Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Brown is survived by one daughter; Amy Brown and one son; Michael Brown both of Manteo. He was pre-deceased by two brothers; James Craig Brown and Brian Adams Brown. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the California Highway Patrol Widows and Orphans Fund, 2030 V.
