Obituary of Dempsey Forbes

Dempsey Burnette ‘DB’ Forbes, Sr., age 65, of 244 One Mill Road, Shiloh, NC, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Forbes, a native of Camden County, was the husband of Betty Riggs Forbes of the residence and the son of Ruth Pierce Forbes of Shiloh, NC, and the late Dempsey Forbes. He was a retired electrician at the EC Coast Guard Base, a member and past master of Hall Lodge #53 AF&AM, Indian Ridge Chapter #319 OES, the Elizabeth City York Rite Bodies, the Elizabeth City Shrine Club, the Sudan Shriners, and a member of I.B.E.W. Local Union # 733. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Nena Williams of Gloucester, VA; a son, Dempsey Burnette Forbes, Jr., of Shiloh, NC; two sisters, Jeannette Riggs and Geraldine Overton, both of Shiloh, NC; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, January 30, 2004, at 11:00am at Twiford Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery with Masonic Rites accorded by Hall Lodge #53 AF & AM.
