Obituary of Mabel Creef

MANTEO, NC MABEL BALLANCE CREEF, 84, of Manteo, NC and formerly of Elizabeth City, died Wednesday, February 04, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Creef, born in Hatteras, NC, was a retired Speed Hand for the Elizabeth City Cotton Mill and was a Methodist. She was the daughter of the late Clarence D. Ballance, Sr. and the late Nola Willis Ballance and was the widow of the late Alvin ‘Little Bud’ Creef. Mrs. Creef is survived by a daughter, Gloria C. Long of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, Rodney Ballance, Sr. of Manns Harbor, NC; two step-daughters, Garnet Duncan of Elizabeth City, NC and Joyce Tinker of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Beuna Ballance of Elizabeth City, NC; a brother, Royce Ballance of Chesapeake, VA; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A graveside service will be held in the Westlawn Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC on Friday, February 6, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Roland Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, then on Friday, 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm at Twiford Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, NC.
