Obituary of Cyrus Cooley, Jr.

Nags Head, NC Cyrus Eugene Cooley, Jr., 82, of Britthaven of Outer Banks, died Sunday, March 14, 2004. He was born in Chicago, IL to the late Cyrus Eugene and Mary Lois Matthews Cooley. He was a retired executive in the textile industry, a member of the Outer Banks Baptist Church, a member of the Gideon’s International, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Cooley is survived by three daughters, Cathleen Ward of Memphis, TN, Susan Cooley of Manhattan, NY, and Catherine Ennis of Kill Devil Hills, NC; one sister, Sarah Cottle of Bartlesville, OK; one brother, Charles Cooley of Sommerville, TN; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Corinne Bussey. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gideon’s International. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, NC is in charge of arrangements.
