Obituary of Laura Newbern

Laura Nancy Alexander Newbern Elizabeth City, NC Laura Nancy Alexander Newbern, age 98, of 508 West Main Street Elizabeth City, NC, died in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Tuesday, March 16, 2004. She was born in Tyrell County, the daughter of the late James Louis Alexander and Mary Rhodes Alexander. She was the wife of the late Marshall Edward Newbern, and a member of First Christian Church and the Loyal Women’s Bible Class. Mrs. Newbern is survived by two daughters, Kay N. Smith and her husband Bill and Margaret N. Myers all of Elizabeth City, NC; one son, Anthony Edward ‘Tony’ Newbern and his friend Louise of Stone Mountain, Ga., one grandson Brian Anderson Newbern of Raleigh, and two great grandchildren Corrine Newbern and Ethan Newbern both of Raleigh and several special nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held Friday March 19, 2004, at 2:00 P. M. at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel 405 East Church Street Elizabeth City with the Rev. Glenn Brigman and Rev. William Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Old Hollywood Cemetery. The family will join friends Thursday evening from 7:00 P. M. to 8:30 P. M. at Twiford’s Funeral Home 405 East Church Street and following the funeral service at the funeral home.
