Obituary of Frank J. Auriemma
FRANK J. AURIEMMA, 73, of Kill Devil Hills, NC and formerly of Holmdel, NJ, passed away peacefully, after a brief battle with lung cancer, on the morning of March 24, 2004 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Frank served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was employed by National Lead for thirty years, fifteen years by Translantic Computers and most recently Wendy’s of Kill Devil Hills. Frank was always an active member of his community. He was a charter member of the Holmdel First Aid Squad and Auxiliary, a member of the Holmdel Kiwanis, and a parishioner of St. Catherine’s Church, Holmdel. He recently received his first degree with the Knights of Columbus of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Kitty Hawk. Although having been a resident of Kill Devil Hills for only three years, he loved the Outer Banks community. ‘Pop’ was also an avid fan of the 2002 Manteo Redskins. His zest for life was an inspiration and a joy to be a part of. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.
Frank was the ninth of eleven children. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Frank and Rose Auriemma; three brothers, Tony, Carmen and Ralph Auriemma; two sisters, Angie Ferrante and Millie Siano; three nephews, Dominic and Louis Ferrante and Ralph Auriemma.
Frank is survived by his wife of fifty years, Loretta (Budnick) Auriemma; four daughters, and sons-in-law, Marcella and Dennis Jiosne of Holmdel, NJ, Loretta and John Kupfer of Kitty Hawk, NC, Kathleen and Jim Hammond of Lincroft, NJ and Cynthia and Carl LaBella of Onancock, VA; five grandsons, Dennis and Jason Jiosne, John and Justin Kupfer, and Thomas LaBella; four granddaughters, Melanie Kupfer, Pamela LaBella, and
Katie and Jennifer Hammond; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Amaya LaBella; two brothers, William and Lou Auriemma; three sisters, Margaret Cahill, Nancy
Auriemma, and Mary Megill; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Kitty Hawk on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 10:00 am, with the Reverend Joseph Klause, Emeritus of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Memorial donations may be made to Dare County Hospice, POB 1000, Manteo, NC 27954, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, POB 510, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949, or the Outer Banks Kiwanis Club.
