Obituary of Robert Morton, Jr.

Robert Lewis Morton, Jr. Native of Nashville, TN Robert Lewis Morton, Jr., age 72, of 102 Mill Road, Hertford, NC, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Elizabeth City. He was a native of Nashville, TN, and the husband of Virginia Isaac Morton of the residence and the son of the late Robert Lewis Morton, Sr., and Bessie Mae Sadler Morton. He was a retired industrial salesman, a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Past Grand Master of Independent Odd Fellows Jurisdiction of TN, member of Tennessee Lodge # 1, Association member of Achoree Independent Odd Fellows # 14 in Elizabeth City. He was a US Army Infantry Veteran of WW II. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Sherry Schlamp of Hertford, NC; a son Robert M. Morton of Hertford, NC; three grand children; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services with full military honors rendered by the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post # 6060 will be Monday, April 5, 2004, at 11:00 AM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church, Elizabeth City, with the Rev. Alan Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening at the residence of his son, Mr. & Mrs. Robert M. Morton, 1113 Woodville Road, Hertford, NC, and immediately after the funeral service in the lobby of the funeral home. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
