Patrick Henry Morgan, age 83, of 150 Baxter Estates Road, Moyock, NC, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Morgan, a native of Shawboro, NC, was the son of the late Edwin Ferebee Morgan and Lucille Baxter Morgan and was married for fifty-four years to Irene Shelton Morgan of the residence. He was a graduate of Swanee Military Academy and had a Degree in Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University and a MA from Marshall University. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II having served in Japan, and had duty tours in Korea, and Thailand and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1966 after twenty years of service. He worked as a textile engineer for Dan River Mills and was a Professor of Engineering and the Dean of Applied Science at Marshall University, retiring in 1979 when he moved home to Currituck, NC. He was a member of Pilmoor United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy M. Fredericks and husband Douglas W. of Yorktown, VA; and two sons, Dr. Patrick H. Morgan, Jr., and wife Sharon of Currituck, NC, and Dr. Michael B. Morgan and wife Robin of Kitty Hawk, NC; and seven grandchildren, Patrick H. Morgan, III, Kristin Morgan, David Morgan, Doug Fredericks, Dana Fredericks, Katie Morgan, and Stephanie Morgan.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 16, 2004, at 2:00 PM at Pilmoor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Wilson-Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Moyock Memorial Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the U.S. Army.
