Obituary of Vera High

Vera Mae High Chesapeake ‘ Vera Mae High, 62, died April 16, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. High was born in Winston Salem, NC to the late Walter and Daisy Gambel Burchette. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church in South Norfolk for over 30 years. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, James High; one daughter, Patricia Ann Sanford of Chesapeake; one son, Richard S. High of Chesapeake; two sisters, Gail B. Pittman and Dorothy Elliott both of Norfolk; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2:00pm at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with Rev. Greg Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends at South Side Baptist Church on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the South Side Baptist Church Building Fund. Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake is in charge of these arrangements.
