Obituary of Douglas Johnson

Norfolk, VA Douglas Eugene ‘Gene’ Johnson, age 59, a former resident of Norfolk, VA, died Friday, April 16, 2004 in the Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC. He was a native of Logan, WV, and was the son of the late Kelly Johnson and Leona Paynter Johnson. He was a retired carpenter. Survivors include his wife; Phylis Gatewood Johnson of Carrollton, Va., one daughter Jennifer Gatewood of Norfolk, VA; four sons Kelly Johnson and Brandon Gatewood both of Hertford, NC, Darrell Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Dwayne Sullivan of South Mills, NC. two sisters Emily J. King of Hertford, NC and Shirley J. Waddell of Chesapeake, Va., three brothers James Johnson of Charlottesville, Va., Roy M. Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Robert Lee ‘Bobby’ Johnson of Hertford, NC, and thirteen grandchildren. A committal services will be held at a later date by his family.
