Obituary of Johnnie Hooker

Johnnie Cecil Hooker Native of Elizabeth City, NC Johnnie Cecil Hooker, age 80, formerly of Elizabeth City, NC, and Brian Center Nursing Home of Hertford, NC, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in the Albemarle Hospital. He was a native of Elizabeth City, NC, and was a retired cook for S.C. Loveland Company, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Hooker was the son of the late Johnnie E. Hooker and Bessie White Hooker. He is survived by one daughter, Sandra H. Bascombe of Chesapeake, VA; one son Gary Stephen Hooker, Sr. of West Palm Beach, FL; and his companion, Pauline Cuthrell of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers, Caleb Hooker and Pete Hooker both of Elizabeth City, NC; ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Jeffrey C. Hooker, and two grandsons Jeffrey Cecil Hooker and Joey Dail Hooker. A memorial service will be Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 2:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at the funeral home.
