Cecil Cabot Benton, age 88, of South Mills, NC, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Columbus County, NC, son of the late Lucien Perry and Bertie Kissam Benton and was the widower of Margaret James Benton. He was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church and attended Trinity United Methodist Church, a charter member of the South Mills Volunteer Fire Department, and a charter member of the South Mills Ruritan Club.
Mr. Benton is survived by a daughter, Vivian Benton Bridgers and husband Val of South Mills, NC; a son-in-law, Ken Winslow of South Mills, NC; two brothers, Arthur Benton and wife Helen of Kenansville, NC, and Benjamin W. Benton, Sr. and wife Thelma of South Mills, NC; four grandchildren, Kennette Winslow Watkins and husband Nealson, Amanda Cecile Winslow, Morgan Benton Bridgers, and Courtney James Bridgers, and a great grandson, William Holden Watkins. Beside his wife, Mr. Benton is preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Marie Benton Winslow, a son, Benjamin P. Benton, a sister, Betty Sibbett, and three brothers, Rufus, Clarence, and Ralph Benton.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 2:00 pm in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Fields. The family will receive friends, Friday evening at the funeral home, from 7:00 until 8:30 and at other times at the residence. Memorial donations made be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O.
