Obituary of Delia Hufton

Delia Cooper Hufton, age 90, of 503 Maple Street, Elizabeth City NC, died Monday, June 14, 2004 in the Albemarle Hospital. She was a native of Gates County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Ivey Alexander Cooper, and Mae Boyce Cooper, and the wife of the late Albert Hufton. Mrs. Hufton was retired from the Elizabeth City Cotton Mill, and was a member of the Fountain of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna Sawyer, and Rachel Cooper of Elizabeth City, NC; three sisters, Iola Jordan of Elizabeth City, NC, Clarine Jett of Spokane, WA, and Anna Mae Stafford of Elizabeth City, NC; three brothers, Roland and Horace Cooper, both of Elizabeth City, NC, and Ocie Cooper of Hertford, NC; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Hufton was predeceased by two sons, George and Cledis Duncan, and two brothers, George and Ivey Cooper.
A funeral service will be Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 3:00 PM in the Fountain of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bill Mayo and Rev. Roland Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of the granddaughter, Dorothy Lamb, 503 Maple Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
