Obituary of Charles Suderno

Elizabeth City, NC Charles Anthony Suderno, Sr., age 87, of 103 Sutton Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Friday, June 18, 2004, in the Albemarle Hospital. He was a native of New York City, NY. He was the son of the late Joseph Suderno and Nancy Ingue Suderno, and was the husband of Laura Stilson Griffith Suderno of the residence. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He served in the United States Air force for 32 years, and was retired from Civil Service Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. He was also in Bermuda for over a year working with the government on radio towers. Mr. Suderno served in the Korean War, WWII, and during the Vietnam War. The Suderno family lived in Cape Charles, VA, Bedford, VA, and Lynchburg, VA, before moving to Elizabeth City, NC. Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters, Nancy Carter of Waynesboro, VA, Mary Laufer of Huntinton, WV, Sandra Puckett of Randolph, MA, Theresa Lipshitz of Kingsburg, CA, and Laura Gray of Fortson, GA; five sons, John William Griffith, III of Great Bridge, VA, David N. Griffith of Cape Charles, VA, Bruce E. Griffith of Bethel, VT, Charles A. Suderno, Jr. of Hickory, NC, and William C. Suderno of Steveson, AL; two brothers, Rosario ‘Ross’ Suderno of Richfield, CA, and Peter Suderno of Bellflower, CA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister and a brother. A funeral service will be held in the Holy Family Catholic Church Monday, June 21, 2004 at 11:00 AM with Wojciech Chudziak officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 pm to 8:30 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
