Obituary of Joann Phillips
Moyock, NC
Joann Phillips, formerly of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully in her home on July 16, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. Joann was born in the mountains of West Virginia and she always considered those mountains to be her home. She had a tremendous love for nature which she instilled deeply in all five of her children. Joann was an avid reader, consuming five or more books a week throughout her entire life. Her love for the written word afforded her an education no school could ever possibly offer. In her thirties she embarked on a very successful career in sales. She quickly became the top salesperson for both Rice’s Nachmans, and Avon.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles A. Phillips, and her son Joseph H. Phillips, as well as by her brother, Clarence ‘Junior’ Haddix. She leaves behind her four loving children, three grandchildren and her four loving and wonderful sisters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joann will be remembered for her sharp wit and her wonderful sense of humor.
She will be buried at Baltimore National Cemetery beside her beloved husband, as well as her son, Joey. Joann’s life was about love for friends and family, and she will never be forgotten by those of us who were blessed to have known her. May she rest in the loving arms of the source from which all life springs, and to which all life returns, eternally peaceful, and where the springs of love and forgiveness runneth over.
