Obituary of Joseph Dalgliesh

POWELLS POINT, NC JOSEPH FERGUSON DALGLIESH, 82, of Powells Point, NC died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Dalgliesh, born in Westfield, NJ, was a carpet estimator and was a member of St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during WWII and was also a POW. He was the son of the late James Clark and Jessie Brown Dalgliesh. Mr. Dalgliesh is survived by his wife, Jeannette Gilberta Macfarlane Dalgliesh of the residence; four daughters, Kedron D. Oberndorf of Weymouth, MA, Lisa D. Lucas and Amy J. Dalgliesh, both of Powells Point, NC, and Alison G. Dalgliesh of Wheaton, MD; one son, Scott Dalgliesh of Mt. Airy, MD; a sister, Margaret Olski of Hammond, NY; and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at 3:00 pm. A local service at St. Andrew by the Sea Episcopal Church is tentatively set for Saturday, August 28, 2004. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Albemarle Hospice, P.O. Box 189, Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
