Obituary of Elijah “Eli” W. Lewis

Ocracoke Elijah’Eli’ Wayne Lewis, 54, died on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Lewis was born in Eastville, VA. He was the son of the late Steve Davis Lewis and the late Helen Styron Lewis. He is survived by one sister, Suzanne Lewis Durivage and husband, Jay of Exton, PA; two brothers, William Lewis of Ocracoke, Sammy Lewis of West Hollywood, CA; two nieces, Katie and Lori Lewis; three nephews, Jacob Davis Durivage, Kenneth and Tony Lewis. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Steve Davis Lewis, Jr. and a nephew, Ryan Durivage. A memorial service will be held at the Ocracoke United Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ocracoke Health Center and Ocracoke EMS, P.O. Box 543, Ocracoke, NC 27960. The family will receive friends at the ‘Gaskins Cottage’, 45 Mary Anns Drive, Ocracoke. Twiford’s Island Chapel, Hatteras, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
