Obituary of Charles Betts

Charles Wade Betts, Sr. Native of Pasquotank County Mr. Charles Wade Betts, Sr., age 64, of 381 Dry Ridge Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at Leigh Memorial Hospital. Mr. Betts, a native of Pasquotank County, and the husband of Amy Spencer Betts of the residence and the son of the late Eugene Betts and Mae Harris Betts. He was a building supply salesman for M. G. Brown of Edenton, NC, and a member of the Elizabeth City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Charles W. Betts, Jr., and wife Barbara of Elizabeth City, NC, James W. Betts, Sr., and wife Christy of Durham, NC, and Clinton Betts and wife Alene of Elizabeth City, NC; three brothers, Weymouth Betts of Augusta, GA, and Lloyd Betts and Daniel Harris both of Elizabeth City, NC; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, a son, and a brother. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 3, 2004 at 2:00 pm in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Lockwood officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home, Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 and at other times at the residence.
