Obituary of William “Bill” Meredith, Jr.

William Bankhead ‘Bill’ Meredith, Jr. 63, died Monday, September 13, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Meredith was born in Norfolk, VA, was owner of Water Works and Captain of the head boat Miss Virginia Dare. He was a former Nags Head Councilman, a school teacher for 17 years with the Virginia Beach School System, a charter boat captain at Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach for 27 years. Mr. Meredith was the son of the late William Bankhead Meredith, Sr. and Virginia Bell Meredith of Virginia Beach, VA and was the husband of Catherine Franklin Meredith of Nags Head.
Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kelly Lasco and Mark of Southern Shores and Laurin Meredith of Nags Head; three sons, William Bankhead, ‘Banks’ Meredith, III and Lisa and Patterson of Kitty Hawk, Austin Reed Meredith and Michelle and Joseph Henry Meredith, all of Nags Head; one sister, Betty Meredith of Norfolk, VA; two brothers, George Minor Meredith and Andrew Dalton Meredith, both of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Skyler and Tanner Lasco and Madison Meredith; a former wife, Joanne Smith Wade of Chesapeake, VA; dedicated friends, Jeff Wells, Harry Schiavone, Carl Talley and many more; his beloved dogs, Bell and Gin.
A Memorial service will be held at St. Andrews By-the-Sea Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 11:00 AM with devoted friend, the Rev. Charles Gill and Rev. William Brake officiating.
