Obituary of Florence Hooper

HOOPER SALVO, NC FLORENCE BURRUS BARNETT HOOPER, 89, of Salvo, died, Sunday, September 19, 2004 in Elizabeth City, N.C. Mrs. Hooper was born in Frisco and was retired from the Hatteras Island Hotel where she worked in house keeping for over 30 years. She was the daughter of the late Gertrude and Courtney Whedbee Barnett and the wife of the late Jimmie Hooper. Surviving are one daughter, Elsie H. Hooper of Salvo and one son, William Wellington Hooper of Gwynn Island, Va, one sister, Janie Hooper of Salvo, two brothers, Jackie Barnett and George Barnett both of Frisco, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Hooper was pre-deceased by her daughter, Kay Hooper, her sister, Christine Williams and three brothers, Bertie Barnett, Sherman Barnett and Bennie Barnett. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the Salvo Assembly of God by the Rev. Neel Keller and Suzie Fitch-Slater. Burial will be in the Hooper Family Cemetery in Salvo. Friends may join the family at the Salvo Assembly of God Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Twiford’s Colony Chapel Manteo is assisting the Hooper family.
