Obituary of Chester Simmons

Elizabeth City, NC Chester L. Simmons, age 86, of Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, in Guardian Care Nursing Home. He was a native of Tyrrell County, NC, and was son of the late William and Nora Simmons. He was the husband of Annie O’Neal Simmons of Elizabeth City, NC. He worked maintenance for the Asplundah Tree Company for 20 years, and was a member of Pearl Street Pentecostal Church. Besides his wife, Mr. Simmons is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Linda Ellis and Joyce Simpson;,one sister, Verdia Evans, and one brother, Harvel Simmons. A funeral service will be Friday, September 24, 2004, at 3:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Judy White, 124 Olivet Circle, Elizabeth City, NC.
