Obituary of Reggie Ballance

Ocracoke, NC Reginald ‘Reggie’ Ballance, 56, died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Britthaven Nursing Home in Nags Head. Mr. Ballance was born in New Bern, NC and lived most of his life on Ocracoke Island. He was a member of the Ocracoke United Methodist Church and served many years on the polls for the Hyde County Board of Elections and was retired from the National Park Service Maintenance Department. Mr. Ballance was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late Elisha Everett Ballance and the late Mildred Amber Hardison Ballance. He is survived by one sister, Lynette Waller and husband Ray Thomas of Ocracoke; one brother, Gene Ballance and wife, Cheryl of Ocracoke; a sister-in-law, Sharon Ballance of Ocracoke; he was preceded in death by a brother, David Ballance. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ocracoke United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 28th, 2004 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Joyce Reynolds officiating. Burial will take place in the Ballance Family Cemetery in Ocracoke. A Visitation will be held at the church Monday, September 27th from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reggie Ballance Memorial Fund for Prostate Cancer Screening, C/O East Carolina Bank, P.O. Box 458, Ocracoke, NC 27960. Twiford’s Island Chapel, Hatteras, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
