Obituary of Nora M. Scarborough

Wanchese, NC Nora Meekins Scarborough, 84, died on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Scarborough was born in Hatteras and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, of Hatteras. She served as Advisory Council to the NC Commission on Arts and Crafts; Treasurer and Board Member for the Wanchese Community Center, Roanoke Island Garden Club, NC and Dare County Home Extension Service and a member of other civic organizations. She was the daughter of the late George Thomas Meekins and the late Lorena O’Neal Meekins and was the wife of the late M. Edward Scarborough. She is survived by two daughters, Elaina S. Davis and Irma S. Forbes both of Wanchese; three sons, Stanley Scarborough, George Scarborough, both of Wanchese and Bobby Scarborough of Frisco; thirteen grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Cudworth Cemetery, Wanchese on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 2:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
