Obituary of Kathleen Hadeed

Kill Devil Hills, NC Kathleen Naughton Hadeed, 50, of Kill Devil Hills, NC died on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the Outer Banks Hospital, Nags Head, following a very brief and sudden illness. She was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of Francis A. and Marilyn Kelley Naughton. She was a graduate of the University of Maryland and attended graduate school at the University of Maryland and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kathleen was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Kathleen was a social worker for over twenty years, working tirelessly for children and families. Her co-workers at the Dare County Department of Social Services knew her to be extremely dedicated and tenacious in her efforts to better the lives of those she served. Her life was one of selflessness and giving to others. As a young woman, Kathleen was an avid horsewoman, who worked at a race track in Maryland, ‘breaking’ horses for racing. She loved to go fishing and walking and was an avid reader. She continuously engaged in activities to increase her knowledge and skills and was sought out for her expertise in many areas. Kathleen was a loving wife and mother. Her husband, Bill, was her best friend and they would have celebrated their twenty-fourth anniversary on October 19. Kathleen and Bill had four children, an adult daughter, Melissa Diebert of Phoenix, AZ and three teenagers of the home, Angel, Tristan and Peter. She is also survived by a nephew, Frantz Rodenhauser. Kathleen was devoted to her family and always made them the first priority in her life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Karen Rodenhauser. A Funeral Mass was held in Kathleen’s honor at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on October 15, 2004. Kathleen requested that any who wished to do so, make memorial donations to the Foster Children of Dare County, c/o Dare County Social Services, POB 669, Manteo, NC 27954.
