Obituary of Margie Sawyer

Elizabeth City, NC Margie Ward Sawyer, age 77, of 1800 Ulster Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at her residence. She was a native of Norfolk, VA, and was the daughter of the late George W. Ward and Elizabeth McKimmey Seymore Ward, and wife of Ambrose Staples Sawyer of the residence. She was a nurse, and a member of Faith Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Indian Ridge Chapter #319. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Georgia Ecton and her husband Bill of South Korea, Betty Winslow Shearin and her husband Bob of Elizabeth City, NC; one son, Keith Sawyer and his wife Pat of Kitty Hawk, NC; one brother, Jack Ward of Camden, NC; eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Ward. A funeral service will be Sunday October 24, 2004, at 2:30 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St. Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. Al Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
