Obituary of Howard Russell Langley
LANGLEY
MANNS HARBOR, NC
HOWARD RUSSELL ‘ RUSS ‘ LANGLEY, 92, of Manns Harbor, died, Saturday, October 30, 2004, in Elizabeth City. Mr. Langley was born in Wilson, N.C. and was retired from General Foods. He was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and was a former Dare County Commissioner and was instrumental in bringing the first hospital to Dare County and establishing Dare County Seafood Industrial Park.
Mr. Langley is survived by his son, Rev. Charles L. Langley of Forrest, Va; two sisters, Sudie Harrell of Macclesfield, N.C. and Mary Morris of Baltimore, N.C.; Three grandsons, two granddaughters and five great grandchildren. Mr. Langley was pre-deceased by his sister Penny Jane and brothers Joe and Alec.
A celebration of life will be Wednesday, November 2, 2004, at 3:00p.m. in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Debbie Grossberg and C.L. Reynolds. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Tuesday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 588, Rustburg, Va 24588. Twiford’s Colony Chapel Manteo is handling arrangements.
