Douglas Jay Melpolder
Native of Grand Rapids, MI
Douglas Jay Melpolder, age 43, of 104 Vineyard Drive, Camden, NC, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Melpolder, a native of Grand Rapids, MI, was the husband of Daryl Lynn VanBlooys Melpolder of the residence and the son of Wayne Gerald Melpolder and Kathryn Ann Hoeksema Melpolder of Grand Rapids, MI. He was the General Manager for Universal Forest Products, a member of Camden United Methodist Church, and the Camden Lion’s Club.
Besides his wife and parents he is survived by a daughter, Brittany Anne Melpolder of the residence; a son, Bradley Weston Melpolder of the residence; four sisters, Pamela K. Dykehouse of Grand Rapids, MI, Mary B. VanDeRiet of Holland, MI, Patricia L. Gutowski of Las Vegas, NV, and Nancy A. Cowell of Grand Rapids; a brother, Daniel Wayne Melpolder of Bryon Center, MI; father-in-law, Jack VanBlooys of Grand Rapids, MI; a sister-in-law, Nancy A. DeGood of Hamilton, MI; thirteen nieces; three nephews; and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Joyce VanBlooys and a niece, Emily Dykehouse.
A funeral service will be Friday, November 5, 2004, at 3:30 PM at Camden United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Moehring officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence. Memorial donations for the children’s education may be made to the Douglas J. Melpolder Memorial College Fund,Wachovia Bank, 400 East Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
