Jimmie Gray Dunlo, 86, of 634 Main St., South Mills, NC died at his residence Sunday, November 14, 2004. He was born in Askewville, NC to the late William Bernard and Lillie Rebecca Miller Dunlo and was the widow of the late Mary Margaret Epperson Dunlo. Mr. Dunlo was a former resident of South Norfolk, VA, a retired worker at the Norfolk Shipyard and Drydock Company. He was a member of the South Mills Church of Christ, Woodman of the World, a mason and a shriner. Mr. Dunlo was a former welter weigh boxer and a veteran having served in the U. S. Army.
He is survived by three daughters, Virginia Edwards, Carolyn Dew and husband Doug all of South Mills, NC and Rebecca Dunlo of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons, James Dunlo and wife, Cindi of Chesapeake, VA and Bernard Dunlo and wife, Mary of Wanchese, NC; one sister, Sue Elrod of Jacksonville, FL; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at 10:00am in Twiford Memorial Chapel, Church St., by Pastor Ron Stewart. Burial will be in the Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Virginia Beach VA at 2:00pm with military honors. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30pm and again immediately following the chapel service in the lobby of the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to either the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to the Kidney Foundation. The family will be at Mr. Dunlo’s residence, 634 Main St., South Mills, NC. Twiford funeral Home, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City is assisting the Dunlo family.
