William Joseph Lang, LT USN RET. Age 81, of 1285 Tull’s Creek Road, Moyock, NC, died in Rock Hill, South Carolina, at the home of his daughter, on Saturday, November 13, 2004. Born in Royal Oak, Michigan, he was the son of the late Edward Frank and Mae Agnes Lang Lang, and was the widow of the late Roxie Cook Franklin Lang. He was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Cryptologist, a graduate of North Western High School in Detroit, Michigan, a member of St. Katharine-Drexel Parrish in Moyock, NC, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He served in the Navy during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
Mr. Lang is survived by three daughters, Diane Ruthe of Moyock, NC, Sherron Candelaria of Mesa, AZ, and Jodi Bartholomew of Rock Hill, SC; two sons, William Lang of Rock Hill, SC, and Robert Lang of St. Matthews, SC; one brother Leonard ‘Bud’ Lang of Citrus Heights, CA; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2004, at 10:00 AM at St. Katharine-Drexel Catholic Church in Maple, NC with Father Jim Buchholz officiating. Burial will follow in Moyock Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the U.S. Navy. A visitation will be held Thursday at the church with a Rosary at 7:30 pm followed by the visitation from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The family will be at both the homes of Diane Ruthe, 105 Poplar Circle, Moyock, NC, or at Mr. Langs home, 1285 Tulls’s Creek Road, Moyock, NC.
