Obituary of Eda S. Mann
Eda Simpson Mann went to her eternal rest at the age of 97 on November 17, 2004 at her home in Wanchese. Mrs. Mann was born in Wanchese on September 10, 1907 to the late Charles A. and Marie H. Simpson and was also the stepdaughter of Nannie E. Simpson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward M. Mann, her son, Michael E. Mann and three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Mann was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the Ladies Bible Class and the Rena Baum Circle. She was a life member of the Elizabeth City Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Mann is survived by her sister, Amelia Austin of Wanchese, brother, Herbert Simpson of Hemit, CA and her cousin, Edna Daniels of Nags Head. Aunt Eda was a loving aunt to her numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was fortunate to have the loving care of the many aides who attended her needs and enabled her to stay in her home. The family will be eternally grateful for their love and compassion and would like to especially thank Shirley Spellman for her never ending devotion to Eda and her family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Wanchese, NC with Rev. Richard Lewis and Rev. Holt Clarke officiating. Burial will follow in the Manteo Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Amelia Austin at 1146 E.R. Daniels Road in Wanchese. Memorial donations may be made in Eda’s memory to the Bethany United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Kennedth Doughty, P.O. Box 322, Wanchese, NC 27981.
