Obituary of Elizabeth Jackson

Elizabeth Ray Ives Jackson, age 78, of 101 West Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at her residence. She was a native of Elizabeth City, NC, and the daughter of the late William Ray Ives and Lona Fulcher Ives. She was the widow of John Keaton Jackson, Sr. She worked for many years as a receptionist at Albemarle Hospital, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by five sons, John Jackson of Kwang Ju, South Korea, George Jackson, Andy Jackson, and Rusty Jackson all of Elizabeth City, NC, and Billy Jackson of Kinston, NC; one daughter, Cindy Simpson of Kill Devil Hills, NC; three caring daughters in law, Blair Jackson, Jeanne Jackson, and Sissie Jackson all of Elizabeth City, NC; and one sister, Gloria Ives Jackson. She was predeceased by one daughter, Betsy Wright. Particularly in her later years Elizabeth’s most significant joys revolved around sharing tales with her four Jackson grandchildren, Jenny, John, Kate, and Amber, and her Simpson grandchildren, Pam and Stefanie, and her daughter Betsy’s child, Jami Wright VanHorn, and her one great-granddaughter, Brandy Simpson. A graveside service will be Friday, November 19, 2004, at 1:00 PM in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, with Frankie Huggins officiating. The family looks forward to visiting friends and relatives at Twiford s Memorial Chapel on Thursday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM, and on Friday following the service at the home of George and Blair Jackson, 1523 Rivershore Road, Elizabeth City, NC. Elizabeth was an avid reader, therefore in lieu of flowers; the family requests that memorial donations be made of the library of one’s choice.
